Moving on to Something New.
Created: 25/09/2024I've been playing Team Fortress 2 (TF2) for 11 years. It's been a part of my life for so long that I almost forgot what it feels like not to play it. It was fun for years, I enjoy the game so much---the thrill of winning a competitive match, earning that medal and the friends I made along the way. But recently, something changed.
I noticed that I don't really enjoy playing anymore. It's almost like a habit that I can't break. I launch the game, go through the motions, but there's no excitement, no spark, just empty hollow feeling. It's strange, because for so long, this was what I loved, what I enjoyed the most whenever I came home from school. But now, I feel like i'm just playing out of habit, not because I acutally want to.
The other day, when i was doom-scrolling through Youtube Shorts, I stumbled across a comment that hit me, got me thinking. "Maybe It's time to change to a new game. You've probably been playing the same game for too long." That simple comment made me pause and think. Maybe because of burnout? Maybe that's exactly what's happening. I've been stuck in the same loop for so long that I forgot there are other things out there---new games, new hobbies, or even new goals to explore.
The feeling is strange, but I think it's a natural part of life. Sometimes, we hold on to some things out of comfort and familiarity, even when they no longer make us happy. But moving on to something new doesn't mean leaving those good memories behind. It just means there's more to discover.
So, I've decided to take a step back from TF2 and explore new games. Whether it's another game or something completely different, I want to find that excitement again.
If you're feeling stuck or unmotivated, maybe it's time to consider a change too and who knows? Maybe the next step will be better than the last.
